The phenomenal turnaround of NWSC from an ailing utility to a seminal world-class success story has been well documented. From embarking on extensive reform processes culminating into several much-heralded ‘home-grown’ innovative result-oriented short term high impact programs that improved performance, ensured quality and efficient service delivery, as well as, rapid expansion of the customer base, reduction of non-Revenue water, improvement of staff productivity, to quadrupling of the annual turnover, and a sustained corporate profit after depreciation.

While NWSC went about metamorphosing itself into a world-class leading water utility in the region for its operational and commercial
efficiency, the rest of the world was watching – in admiration and awe – and mostly wanted to partake in on the success. Consequently, the NWSC External Services Unit was founded in January 2005 to respond to the growing interest and calls of utilities and organizations across Africa, Asia, the Pacific and beyond that wished to benchmark the initiatives and innovations within the corporation, as well as create a knowledge base and share experiences and best practices that have since been replicated across the world.
